Cities to Visit When You Travel In the Philippines

Most people visit Southeast Asia to see the beautiful tropical beaches, to lie back on white sand, bathe in crystal clear waters and generally bask in the sunshine and balmy air that is characteristic of this region during the summer. But that's not all that this part of the world has to offer. If, for example, you decide to travel Philippines, you can consider making a tour of its major cities instead of sticking to beaches and other tourist spots.

What cities are best to see when you travel Philippines? It's a good idea to go by the major island groups that make up this archipelago. You can visit one in Luzon, another in Visayas, and a third in Mindanao.

When in Luzon, the place to be is the Philippine capital - Manila. Manila is an old, historic city as well as a vibrant and modern one. If you're interested in history, the old walled city of Intramuros is sure to be an enlightening and enjoyable experience. You'll see the ruins of forts as well as sixteenth-century churches that are still in use today. The National Museum and the Cultural Center of the Philippines also provide a wealth of beautiful and culturally significant artifacts.

If nightlife is more your thing, then the bars and restaurants of Malate should prove to be a blast. You'll find a wealth of diverse experiences, including hole-in-the-wall galleries and cafes, karaoke bars, spas, and even Chinese, Japanese and Korean restos.

Cebu in the Visayas should be your next stop. It's even older than Manila, and is the home of Magellan's cross. It also features many historical attractions, as well as a vibrant art and music scene that showcases the best of the Bisaya region's artists and performers.

In Mindanao, you have to see Davao City. Davao City is the largest, and some say one of the cleanest and safest of Philippine cities. Davao City offers a more laid-back nightlife, as well as unique activities like nature-tripping, a Philippine Eagle sanctuary and Crocodile Park, and of course, the chance to sample world-famous pomelos and durian.

When you travel Philippines, be sure that you don't miss out on experiences as varied as they are fresh. Don't stick to the guidebooks, and do not be fooled by stereotypes. Instead, go out with an open mind and an adventurous spirit to encounter the best in the Pearl of the Orient.

If you want to explore Davao City, Philippines, all you need to do is to find a great tourist guide to be able to help you around. Staying here is great because of the cheap hotels in Davao City
