0 Planning a Memorable But Cheap Holiday

I'm sure you have dreamed about taking that perfect vacation. You've thought about traveling to exotic countries or considered taking a month or two from work to go backpacking. While it might not be possible to travel around the world or be away from work for more than 2 weeks because of time or financial constraints, it doesn't mean you can't have a great vacation. There are several things you can do to have a cheap holiday that's both satisfying and memorable.

• Look for cheap flights: With patience and careful planning, you can score some affordable tickets. Regularly check travel websites or an airline's homepage for special deals. This might mean you'll be booking your flight well in advance or you'll be traveling at the last minute, but the savings you'll get are amazing. Traveling during the off-season also means big savings.

• Learn to pack and travel light: If you're only going away for a few days, use a backpack or any hand luggage. Just bring the essentials and leave behind non-essential items like a hair dryer. You'll save a lot of time and money if you don't have to check-in or pay the baggage fee.

• Eat where the locals eat: Food is one of the biggest expenses a person makes when on holiday. Eating out can set you back a pretty penny, unless you eat where the locals do. Ask where the best local restaurant is and you'll eat well during your cheap holiday.

• Do your research and look for places you can go to for free: Before deciding on where you want to go, Google it and search for places and activities that you can go to for free or for a minimal fee. For example, look for free museums, parks, organic markets or open air performances.

• Go to the beach: This is a great place to go if you want to stretch your budget. You don't need to spend money to go sunbathing, read, play beach volleyball, swim or build a sand castle.

• Stay alcohol free: You might not notice it, but alcohol sometimes causes major spending during a vacation. Most of us can drink responsibly, but we sometimes forget this when we're in a different country and enjoying our vacation. Remember that a tipsy tourist transforms into a big spender at times. Think about this as well, we go on a holiday for a change of pace, not to keep doing the same thing in a different locale. If you're always hitting the bars while in the city, and you're still doing the same thing on your vacation, then what was the point of leaving?

• Go for a walk: Going around on public transportation can be expensive. One way to cut cost during your holiday is to walk. Get a map of the area and check areas that you can cover on foot. You'll save some cash and see more of the town. If you really need a transport, avoid taxis and go for other public transportation.

Everybody needs a break from time to time. Going on a holiday is a great way for you to recharge your batteries and learn more about yourself. Despite the sluggish economy, there's no reason why you should deprive yourself of it. With a little ingenuity and creativity, you can have that perfect cheap holiday.

0 How To Save For A Family Holiday

There is nothing quite like a great family holiday, but great family holidays come at a cost. You need to know how to save money for your family holiday if you ever want to be able to afford one. This article provides you with a 5 step process for saving enough money for your next trip.

Where you go on your next trip and how long you go for doesn't matter these tips can work for anyone. They are not the be all and end of of travel saving advice but they give you a good starting point and framework from which to base your savings plan on.

These steps are steps that I am taking myself to save for our next family holiday.

1. Decide How Much Money You Need

This is the first obvious step. Before you begin saving you first need to decide how much money you will need for your trip. Holidays can vary in expenses extremely. Obviously if you want to be staying in 5 star resorts having massages on a daily basis then it is going to cost you a lot more than free camping in the bush.

Decide what kind of holiday you want and do some research to find out exactly how much your holiday will cost. You now have your goal savings figure.

2. Create an Automatic Savings Plan

This tip could also be titled 'start saving'. The goal here is to 'pay yourself first' and to save money before it goes into your living expenses. My family has a certain amount of money each month that we save regardless. We then try and live off the rest.

Save the money you need first and then get creative as to how you are going to survive off the remaining amount. You will find it isn't as difficult as you first imagined.

3. Sell Any Unwanted Items

To ramp up your savings quickly sell any unwanted items lying around the house. Use eBay to sell old furniture and tech items for some extra cash.

4. Look To Create Extra Sources Of Income

Look for ways to create extra sources of income that you can save. Maybe you can get a second job, work extra hours or even start a business on the side. Make sure that every extra dollar that you earn you put towards your holiday. Don't go spending that extra income you make or you will find you are working extra hard with very little to show for it.

5. Spend Less and Save More

If you every get an opportunity to spend less then save the excess. Say you shopped at a discount supermarket and as a result you only spent $70 on the shopping when usually you would have spent $100. You can now save that $30 towards your holiday to speed up the process.

6. BONUS TIP: Have a working holiday

Some families even choose to have working holidays. For more tips check out these families that are travelling Australia because they took the time and saved up.

0 Staycations - A Viable Option for an Enjoyable Holiday

There is a misconception around the term "holiday". People think that it is not worth taking days off from work if they don't use them for getting away from their residential area. However, you don't always have the money or the power to travel. This does not mean that you cannot stop working for a short while and clear your head. Appeared from the combination of the verb "stay" and the noun "vacation", the term "staycation" expresses the idea of spending your holiday at home. Often disregarded, staycations can represent a viable option to traveling for several reasons:

1. They don't need a lot of preparations.

When you go abroad for your holiday, you have lots of preparations to do: to book flight tickets and accommodation in advance; to look for travel guides and plan every day's schedule; to get informed on visas and other formalities. All this hustle disappears when you decide to stay at home.

2. They represent an opportunity to reconnect with your friends and family.

Within our consumerist society, the population's financial needs have greatly increased. Therefore, people tend to work longer hours than they used to a few decades ago in order to cover for their personal as well as for their family's always growing expenses. Thus, they have less and less time to spend with their spouses, kids and friends.

3. They can be scheduled at any time of the year.

When traveling, you have to take into consideration weather conditions because you don't want to spend all your day in a hotel room with nothing to do because it is pouring outside. The range of indoor activities is much wider in your own residential area. Therefore, you can take this time off at any time of the year.

4. They are the perfect time to explore your local area.

More and more people love to travel across the Globe. They get informed on the landmarks and the things to do at their next destination. However, most of them often ignore their surrounding area's tourist attractions. A staycation is a great opportunity to explore your town's museums, art galleries and to take part in local cultural events. Just look for a good travel guide and try to discover your town from a tourist's perspective.

5. They don't cost a lot of money.

When spending your time off at home, you don't have to pay for the hotel room, you are not forced to eat out and you don't spend money on expensive entrance fees to landmarks.

6. They are not tiring.

Spending your vacation at home means not having to fly to a different corner of the world, not getting jet lagged, not having to run all day to make the most of it. Instead, you can sleep late, lie in bed with a book, watch a lot of TV, go to the pool and relax.

Therefore, staycations are a viable option to traveling and they can turn into highly enjoyable holidays if organized according to your own tastes and preferences.

0 5 Ways to Save Money on Your Holiday

The words 'money and relaxation' often come to mind whenever we hear the word 'holiday' that we could almost imagine ourselves relaxing on a beach chair and sipping some refreshing beverage while waving goodbye to those dollar signs. So, you might ask "how can we save money on our holiday?" when in fact we would be spending our hard-earned money in order to have some fun and relaxing time away from home.

Well, you actually can!

Save money on different vacation deals
Take the time to check social networking pages or official websites of holiday accommodations, hotels, resorts, and discount websites offering holiday packages. You'll be sure to find deals which could lessen the strain on your pocket.

Booking your holiday as early as you can
Be sure to book in advance if you really want to save money on your holidays, because you'll have more choices to select from. You might even come across some discounted packages for the family.

Going in group
Going with friends on a holiday will not just be more fun and relaxing, but cost effective as well, because you would be able to do more activities and even choose a better holiday accommodation without straining your budget. So, instead of booking a hotel room with limited space, you can get one of those vacation rental homes for your group and still have space for loads of fun and exciting activities.

Make a list of things to bring
One of the worst things you could do in a holiday is leave without the essential stuff you need like food, medicine, snacks, and even clothing, because buying them while on a holiday will put additional strain on your budget. Remember to put tick boxes on your list that way you can mark them as you pack things for the holiday.

Pack lots of food
Most people don't take lots of food with them on a holiday because food tend to be bulky, but if you really want to save and still have enough space, pack a lot of them because prices of things tend to skyrocket in areas frequented by tourists and holiday makers. Choose food that are easy to prepare, but will not easily spoil.

I could probably add more to the list, but let's just scratch the basics since you still want your holiday to be fun and not a struggle with your budget.

Whether you are seeking a relaxing and carefree Byron Bay family holiday or you simply want to stop the world and spiritually recharge, Moonbeach is the perfect getaway destination. There's only 30 metres between your backdoor and the breathtaking stretch of sand and surf that leads you directly to your own slice of paradise where you can take in the unbelievable views to the Byron Bay Lighthouse or enjoy Byron Bay holiday accommodation.
